Kamto’s Luck: What he should do to serve even more.

Ambazonian Flag

It is no longer news that Maurice Kamto has been “pre-defeated” by the Rassemblement Democratic du Peuple Camerounais, RDPC machine. While he has been disqualified from running, he can genuinely feel relieved at not having to be one of the validators once more, given that the “consensual reform” has not come to pass in the last seven years. Ambazonia News explores a range of the options, the silver linings that this dark cloud comes with for both Kamto and the MRC.

A step back to the lucky circumstances that allowed the RDPC to win this round sees its roots, and the RDPC’s mixed blessing in “Movement pour la Renaissance du Cameroun”, MRC deciding to boycott previous “electoral farces”, thereby handing the RDPC this “solution” this time around.

So was MRC right then or now?

The MRC was right to campaign for a fairer electoral system and, even more to applaud, for putting their money where their mouth was in refusing to play validators. It was a very good sign to show a demarcation between MRC and the other comic characters who call themselves the opposition and deliberately validate a biased “electoral system” at every opportunity for a few CFA.

Where the MRC failed was in effectively galvanising the electorate and the gourvenants’ mutuality to bring about the “consensual reform” of the electoral system they [MRC] had rightly invested so much to achieve. Even the pre-defeat of Maurice Kamto should also be to MRC’s credit for risking it to achieve reform. Kamto is now in a good position to publish a white paper on the reforms of the electoral system from a relatively neutral position as he cannot be seen as calling for a system to help him win.

He is also in a similarly advantageous position to coordinate a collaboration among the genuine opposition for the same reason that he can be seen as impartial and actually be impartial, not having to contend with the awkwardness of throwing his hat in the ring as the potential single torch bearer.

His [Kamto’s] disqualification could well not be the coup that the RDPC think if MRC follow up with the courage of their conviction in marshalling the opposition from an inevitably self-less – and therefore “patriotic” position. They could call themselves selfless fighters for the republic in this term.

The electorate of LRC needs to get used to the idea that someone can have the long fight rather than the usual ruses where hundreds turn up with fanfare only to fold to the RDPC in exchange for “their share” even while lamely blaming the obviously biased and flawed system. The electorate need to see the courage in having actually kept sincere rather than place-hold and validate just to have the chance to field their candidate.

For the MRC, this cloud has a silver lining.

If the MRC takes this opportunity they can go further by also seriously thinking about the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle. Without the burden of having to convince the electorate in La République du Cameroun, they can put some real effort into understanding the whole root causes, legal positions and the inevitable need to resort to negotiations to settle the conflict. There is no urgency and therefore it is no longer a politic to promise “to visit” with the implied same-flawed implication of granting an internal solution to a wholly legally separate state. They must be prepared to think the previously unthinkable, including what may have been, unmentionable grey-sky thinking had they been contending for the La République du Cameroun, presidency.

So MRC, if you pursue your brave stances, go and talk to Ambazonians and find out how to resolve the Liberation Struggle in a mutual way. It will help you when you come back to be able to make a substantial contribution to bring a just peace and stability to this Gulf of Guinea.

First hint for a starting point: while La République du Cameroun is called La République du Cameroun, MRC needs to come to terms and bring the understanding to les gourvenants of LRC that that means Ambazonia is outside their legal borders. MRC is also in a relatively better position intellectually to grasp the idea that the name change in 1984 was a one-way irreversible move for les gourvenants, which after its signing and announcement, immediately removed any further ability LRC governments to meddle in Ambazonia’s socio-political development and evolution, thereafter.

MRC needs to use this unexpected opportunity wisely to bring and clarify the mutuality that could see both states co-exist in a more constructive neighbourly mode.

Ambazonia’s Sovereignty Amid Cameroun’s Electoral Chaos

Ambazonian Flag

As we write, La République du Cameroun is in the throes of “election” fever, complete with the tragi-comic events that no fiction writer could deem plausible enough to publish! Be that as it may, they are acting it out. They are “pre-defeating” candidates while setting up processes to ensure that their “international partners” will be able to “pass the elections” as “not too flawed”. Remember that last time the “election observers” who “passed” the 2018 “elections” had as their main qualifications being white! It later emerged they had no expertise or experience, even if one goes past the utter embarrassment of continue to need rely on parading even really reputed observers.

Ambazonian independentists have issued reminders that “election” activities on their territory. It is only right to issue such reminders but is it necessary to ban? Yes and no.

It is right to “ban” to ensure our citizens are not induced to take part, be it by local fifth columnists or La République du Cameroun other agents. The ban falls fairly and squarely within the current Liberation Struggle and should be enforced by applying the appropriate and proportionate sanctions to all those who would seek to undermine our sovereignty even when it those acts are already illegal under international laws and statutes to which La République du Cameroun is signatory. For a reminder, the Ambazonia lies out side the borders of La République du Cameroun, which were frozen at their independence on 1st January 1960. In view of this fact, La République du Cameroun’s elections, even if they were less controversial, would not be legally welcome on Ambazonian territory. In view of the potential chaos that that exercise looks likely to unleash this time around, it ill-advised for anyone to expose our territory and civilians to such potential harm.

On the other hand, banning pre-supposes there is a plausible or legitimate event to ban – there is not and there need not be an explicit ban. We work towards the day when Ambazonians will know enough to simply ignore and “vote with their feet” so to speak! Until then Ambazonian leaders must keep banning just as La République du Cameroun’s carpet-baggers unfurl their wares to make impossible promises which they cannot fulfil and do not need to fulfil as Ambazonia does not need them.

“Candidate” Kamto is on record as promising to “visit” Ambazonia, though he referred to Ambazonia as “North West and South West regions”. The positive is that he clearly sees Ambazonia as being outside La République du Cameroun though he does not acknowledge it, preferring to let his electors continue to mistake La République du Cameroun as including Ambazonia.

“Candidate” Osih has stated that he would talk to [the leaders of] Ambazonia and that he would release those in prison first. He too did not explicitly acknowledge Ambazonia as a state but did put negotiations in prospect. Even though “his” party has failed to raise a debate on Ambazonia even once in nearly nine years of killings and displacement, while collecting payments from La République du Cameroun parliament, they are still labouring under the misconception that they represent Ambazonia in that foreign parliament. In that regard he and his party’s position is more callous for they have been a literal “front” allowing La République du Cameroun to imply that Ambazonia was represented in their parliament by non-RDPC persons. It is worth noting that they also, similarly, “validated” the so-called great national dialogue where they failed to put their big “electoral” offering, “federation”, on the agenda. While his “offers” may seem plausible for a starting point, no Ambazonia can count on them as he is extremely unlikely to turn out as anything other than a validator, providing the usual “front” when the RDPC “wins”, for them to claim they won in a “contest”. Apart from the virtually impossible chance of winning, it is worth reminding Ambazonians that they are not legal La République du Cameroun citizens, living in a territory outside La République du Cameroun borders, and should not join the SDF in providing the “front” to validate RDPC and other carpet-baggers’ illegal stance on Ambazonia.

Issa Tchiroma proposed the most feasible route even if it still suffers from the mistaken view of Ambazonia as part of La République du Cameroun. He proposed a referendum to let the people express their preferences. Mistaking Ambazonia as a part of La République du Cameroun would negate the efficiency of a referendum to resolve the Liberation Struggle/”anglophone crisis” in much the same way that the so-called referendum of 1972 entrenched La République du Cameroun in a state of illegality, setting a precedent for paradoxical violations of “the” constitution. To make his proposal feasible, it would need to be coupled with the acceptance that Ambazonia is outside La République du Cameroun and then the referendum with be exclusively for Ambazonians to avoid the same “rigging” that the 1972 already-illegal referendum suffered.

Akere Muna is the ultimate front, though he is even less likely to “win”. As a lawyer, he should know the legal position on Ambazonina and therefore, should not be playing validator again. Just like SDF, he has been in comfortable opposition of the RDPC while mute on the plight of Ambazonians. He has been displaying his “bilingualism”, Ambazonia News imagines, in a bid to placate that well-known king-maker country by not being too anglophone. The very last thing Ambazonia needs is to see a stooge validating a non-solution to her demand for justice and sovereignty. Ambazonia News is relaxed about that prospect as it would be an absurdity too far for Muna to “come from nowhere” to win whether he was installed by said kingmaker of defying virtual impossibility to defeat RDPC on their own pitch with their referee, linesmen, match delegate and the very La République du Cameroun backup of homologation committees. If he beats all that, he cannot beat the secession of 1984 when Mr Biya withdrew La République du Cameroun from the mere-de facto “union” of the then “united” Republic, previously “federal” Republic of Cameroon.

Ambazonians and Ambazonia should instead concentrate on planning how to cope in the aftermath of the La République du Cameroun electoral charade before continuing to work towards a settlement which does not defy the legal reality. Defying the legal reality is any purported settlement which ignores the secession and presents Ambazonia as a helpless supplicant being granted a settlement by La République du Cameroun.

La République du Cameroun no longer has anything to offer Ambazonia as they are “forcibly occupying Ambazonia” as per HCB/28/92, the Bamenda High Court ruling in “Republic of Ambazonia vs Republic of Cameroon”.

Could Biya do worse? It would appear “yes”!

Ambazonian Flag

The only person who is proven to have nothing to contribute in La Republique du Cameroun’s  presidential “election” in October 2025 seems to “be” determined to plumb new depths to ensure he “wins” again.

Nevermind that he remains completely invisible due to health and other preoccupations, Mr Biya’s machine has taken its first step in ensuring his “victory”.  As a renowned “legalist” “president”, he is benefitting from legal methods (ab)used by his hand-picked party officials.

Apparently, and Ambazonia News has not confirmed yet, his most credible opponent, Maurice Kamto has been disqualified from running – legally!  If the sheep in La Republique du Cameroun stay true to form graze where they are tethered, Mr Biya should “win” again by a margin, we imagine, which Elecam must even now be weighing up for credibility.

As is the way with La Republique du Cameroun, the person who has a long record of reasons why they are the least “qualified” to run is having the path cleared for him.

It does not matter that he has been there for seven terms totalling forty three years and achieved sod all, he is preparing to do even more and win another term without even having had to declare his own candidacy!

It doesn’t matter that he has been there for forty three years and achieved sod all and has not even declared his own candidacy and has brought only war, abject poverty and suffering to his “electors”…

It doesn’t matter that he has been there for years, achieved sod all, not even declared his own candidacy, has brought only war, abject poverty poverty and suffering his electors and is the running the only country where all roads are lined with police collecting bribes and letting dangerously overloaded dilapidated scrap heaps with extra “seats” nailed in to put the lives of his electors at risk on what are jokingly called roads…

What is his secret? How is he so successful at winning elections?

Will the French be available again this year to send congratulations for the record win?

For our part, Ambazonia News urges all Ambazonians to disembark this barge of the damned and seize their destiny before it is too late.  We still know right from wrong. Even though our founding fathers are blamed for “joining” our (evil) brothers we can accept that they made a mistake and be thankful that we are longer bound by that mistake thanks to Mr Biya withdrawing La Republique du Cameroun from what was merely a de facto union.

La Republique du Cameroun is a 1960 country which does not include Ambazonia within its borders and does not need to be consulted before we focus on shaping Ambazonia’s future.

It is an established legal point that Ambazonia’s Liberation and restoration only needed to be declared and it was declared.

Mr Biya is a Candidate! Pyromaniac promises his expertise in fires as an asset!

Ambazonian Flag

Mr Biya has finally “confirmed” that he will run for an eighth term in La République du Cameroun come October twelfth 2025. He did not a actually come out to announce his candidature. It was issued on social media – a method which is guaranteed to have zero input from him – an consistent with his last term. He was invisible when he “won” the last term, not appearing in any rallies. Then, he spent the seven years playing hide and seek with “his” people. During that term his cronies were awarded many “evacuations” for expensive medical care abroad while many died in ill-equipped health units at home. It was even not to odd to hear of corpses being detained in morgues until hospital fees could be paid for their release. Patients likewise.

During the whole of his expiring term he has been oblivious to the fact that he authorized his militias to terrorize the “citizens” in the “Anglophone Regions” where a wide range of people have been killed nominally under his command. The victims include two toddlers killed in Buea and Bamenda on their way to kindergarten. The killers have never been shown to have faced any sanctions, nor has there been any alarm that he runs a system where his militias and not only armed while “controlling” school-run traffic, but authorized to fire live rounds into that traffic! In the wider “crisis” his victims include women, some pregnant, thereby combining the targets of his promise to focus blah blah blah. In his declaration of candidacy, he promises to put the youth and women at the center of all action in his eighth term! So many holes dug –

  1. The mothers of those two toddlers and many young people in Bamenda and Buea would beg to differ and say “No, thank you!” to such ironic promises from someone directly responsible for their distress. A case of a pyromaniac promising to fight a fire they set.
  2. Th youth, who cannot get any employment even if they could buy it, would be daft to buys the promise of action on their plight. Mr Biya could solve that problem by leaving and taking his kleptomaniac incompetent and tribalistic regime. The youth would get by in a fair system without any “action” from someone who will have his work cut to get out of his bed on his own steam, never mind the crop of incompetent kleptomaniacs he has the distinction of having grown. All the eighty-somethings hardly coping with their own physical needs, departing would leave the youth to make their own progress on their own efforts and merits without any kind action.
  3. What about claiming to be the “hope for peace”? Really!? The man who sent out militias to break limbs and maim? That sound more like a threat than a promise! If the people of La République du Cameroun have any hope they should read Mr Biya’s promises as confessions of failure and warnings to their future generations.
  4. He cares for his “dear beautiful country”, not! After forty years, he did not bother to build one hospital where would be happy to be treated in his beautiful country! Did not even build any for his dear young compatriots, for whom he cares so much… What about that ring road he is personally supervising in “North West Region”? He may finally complete, rather start it in his eighth term?

But is Mr Biya the only one to blame? No. He is not even able to appear in public to declare his candidacy and did not manage that while “he campaigned” in the last one in 2018! So who is to blame? Le gourvenants, as they like to call themselves. Also their clients in the “presidential opposition” and the other incompetent clients who got themselves tethered to the trough while they pretended to be the opposition. As they are proposing to continue the same failed system, somehow expecting that they will give their supporters “a turn” at the trough, it stands to reason that they are planning to send their own cronies for health abroad and let their own collect the bribes and intimidate. La République du Cameroun will not fare any better under their “turn”…

Ambazonia is not coming back. Ambazonians should prepare to return home to our own country when La République du Cameroun has to leave. We should be prepared to unlearn any idea of the incompetent kleptocracy as our country will need our honest and full effort to grow.

If citizens of La République du Cameroun need to read through Mr Biya’s confessions, the citizens of Ambazonia need to think beyond it. They do not concern us and we need to be wary of any so-called elites repeating them to us and asking us to give Mr Biya a chance for peace. He is the one responsible for those killings and village burnings and those displacements. But worst of all, or best of all we now know that we are not part of his country and we do not have to take any notice. They will leave soon enough and we need to concentrate on charting our way and setting up the institutions of our country without fear or favour but solely for our own social and economic benefits.

Invisible Man Calls “Election”, Ambazonia needs to be Ready for the Invisible hand

Ambazonian Flag

This week Mr Biya called elections in La République du Cameroun. Well, he “had” elections called on his behalf. In 2018, when they had the last “elections” he hardly campaigned and the validator opposition spent the “campaign” condemning ballot boxes in barracks.

This time around, Mr Biya is going for even less! Yes it seems, that too is possible in La République du Cameroun. Not only is he invisible, he has not entered the race, instead letting his lackeys stir up a “debate” within his RDPC about him being the natural, according to RDPC statutes, candidate, “being the party’s national chairman”. And speaking of statutes, the statutes which bestow the “natural candidate” privilege to Mr Biya, according to young challengers within RDPC, require that the RDPC should have had a congress years ago. They argue that the invisible Mr Biya and his entire coterie of “Polit Bureau” loons are illegal and cannot decide – anything legally for the RDPC, their mandates having lapsed! A poor judge in La République du Cameroun is busy figuring out how to get out of having to rule on the issue, or to couch the ruling in regime-friendly terms, one of the naive youths having referred the matter for judgment.

So there is no declared undisputed RDPC candidate yet for the elections that Mr Biya has not called, but had called for him!

For their part, the “opposition” are busy ignoring the unfair “electoral” system and hoping that it will turn out differently this time round! Talk of consensual reform has disappear – almost as if an invisible hand has reassured them! Ok! It should be an inaudible voice has whispered reassurances in their ear that it will assure their “turn” at the trough. As if to prove it, the “race” has opened up with the “resignations” of some “presidential opposition” parties from the La République du Cameroun “government”. Nobody is considering that they could just be muddying the water and waiting to form a “new” coalition with the RDPC’s dynastic successor when the time comes and if it is calm enough for the invisible hand.

What should Ambazonia do? The obvious answer, having declared our restoration, is “nothing”.

The more serious answers include considering the fallout of the looming crash in La République du Cameroun and reading the not-so invisible hand poised to “help” La République du Cameroun when the inevitable has to be confronted in the next quarter.

On the Ambazonia side, we need to remain independent and vigilant to safeguard lives and property. Safeguarding our dignity and independence will also gain a natural boost as we have to actively be independent in the time frame. We must prepare and be aware of what to do at that time. On the human level we must prepare to support an influx of our refugees fleeing back into our country, aware that they may be joined by fleeing citizens of La République du Cameroun. Ambazonian Independentist Leaders must urgently deliberate on this contingency and and devise plans for that eventuality.

The not-so-invisible hand is hovering having sent that chief paramilitary official to openly turn up in person to instruct their proxies in La République du Cameroun! It is their practice to install dynastic successors in their colonies and in the case of La République du Cameroun, they are in an ever decreasing circle and heading towards having to break cover. It will not be like Chad, Togo, Gabon … where the transitions seemed agreed in advance. While La République du Cameroun is overstretched trying to maintain an occupation Ambazonia, they may need to dangle one of the fifth columnists as a temporary compromise to “solve” many parts of the puzzle while they figure out the game. “Dangle” clearly does not mean the fearful meaning! It is the prospect of a naive “anglophone” being pushed forward to announce “their turn” and asking Ambazonians to rejoice and pause of reconsider their restoration. Not so far-fetched considering the circle is ever-decreasing. To any such potential dupe, Ambazonia News counsels caution and restraint in the face of such flattery as they must know they are only window dressing in a longer game by the colonialists. For the rest of us Ambazonians we must ask ourselves, were that to play out as a scenario, why La République du Cameroun needed to murder toddlers on their way to school, burn villages with women and children, round up many Ambazonian youths as suspected separatist and incarcerate so many Ambazonia leaders if their were ever considering an “anglophone turn”. Of course a “turn” has never been the demand and it would not provide the justice and fairness that was denied in so many active ways to leave only Ambazonian Restoration as the option.

If the invisible hand wants to help, it should negotiate with Ambazonia on behalf of their colony! When chaos comes that will be the only actual option in the absence of any pretend institution in La République du Cameroun. Sending their colonial governor into Ambazonia to promise a “solution” was near enough openly negotiating but it was with the wrong captive audience.

Mr. Biya’s Regime: A Decline into Disorder

Ambazonian Flag

In fewer than six months La République du Cameroun will have to hold “elections”. Things are falling apart as the centre can no longer hold.

It will be a chaotic event as Mr Biya is being “begged” to stand again as the “saviour”. That is not a surprise as there are no other contenders even within “his” RDPC ruling party. So how has it come to this, that at 92 and with failing health he is still being seriously even considered as a possible candidate?

Mr Biya has spent decades setting up and maintaining a tribalistic system where incompetence seems to be a requirement. Hence, the all the functionaries and “elites” of his party go out of their way to show how incompetent they are. They all state that they support the “natural” candidacy of Mr Biya, who is not well enough, and has not been well enough to run a bath. Mr Biya can be credited with insulating himself so well that non of the executive or rank and file of his RDPC dare point out the ever decreasing circle in which he finds himself. One brave member of the RDPC has pointed this out and remains at liberty, contrary to past form, where he would have been languishing in jail as soon as he dared…

From violating La République du Cameroun’s “laws” he has left himself outside the “statutes” of his own party which require him to have been “endorsed” in a congress. Of course that would have been a formality – so efficient is his insulation. The fact remains he is not healthy enough even to hold a congress in front of his captive audience! So how will he “run” La République du Cameroun when/if he wins the next “elections”? His “ministers” between filling their pockets and taking trips overseas for health care or to investigate “how embassies are using bilingualism” all insisting La République du Cameroun needs him to stand as the [violent and abusive] “father” of the nation.

While La République du Cameroun sleep walks towards chaos at the end of the year, their militias are still in Ambazonia committing with their usual impunity. For the last eight years they have gone from gleefully announcing the “neutralization of youths suspected of being separatist”, shooting toddlers on their way to kindergarten, murdering whole villages of pregnant women and children to, now maintaining a relative blackout on their continuing crimes.

There is slightly less intensity thanks to Ambazonian Restoration Forces’ self-defense efforts, which have come on leaps and bounds with experience.

As expected, other cracks are showing in Mr Biya’s regime and it is clearer and clearer that his time has passed. Mr Kamto returned from his rally in France [ yes France! why not?] and was only briefly obstructed before being allowed to go. This is contrary to previous practice when the regime broke limbs to dissuade. Mr Kamto even promised to “visit” the “Anglophone Regions” if elected president, as his first act to solve “the Anglophone Crisis”. Some might ask if the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle was so that we could benefit from a visit. The point is this would have been enough grounds to land Mr Kamto back in jail in the not-too-distant past, for “apologies for terrorism” or preaching “subversion”.

Earlier last week other oddities arose: Mr Bello Bouba Maigari, who has been a minister apparently since anyone can remember, and certainly since before the advent of Mr Biya, suddenly realized that the Biya regime has failed the people and is proposing to save La République du Cameroun – by running for the presidency himself. Better late than never! Thankfully he has not threatened to visit Ambazonia on being elected. Probably because he might be quite realistic about his chances.

Before Bello Bouba Maigari, Mr Issa Tchiroma did the unthinkable and said that he was leaving the coalition with thr RDPC “who had failed and harmed citizens in the forty-three years of Mr Biya”. To emphasize the point, he told his audience not to trust him, but instead consider him an enemy, if ever he came back to encourage them to vote for Mr Biya. It was akin to a famous Olympian saying “if you see me trying to row again, shoot me”. Just for the record, that Olympian came back, if memory does not fail, and won another medal. Thankfully everyone knew him enough not to take his word.

Should anyone take the word of Mr. Tchiroma. Afterall, he was the Communication Minister when La République du Cameroun propagandists thought it appropriate to make those “neutralization” announcements, making some of the “anti-anglophone” statements himself. Now, better late than never, he has even gone to the extent if stating that “anglophones”, as he mistakenly refers to Ambazonians, should have a voice to decide, including in a referendum! He even went out on a limb to rubbish the French proxy colonial “form of government”, namely a centralized dictatorship, of having failed and whose time had passed.

Chaos in coming to La République du Cameroun. Mr Tchiroma is still walking free! Mr Biya is not up to it!

Ambazonia News will verify and repost the Ambazonia Consultative Commission’s Crisis Plan in the coming days.

Ambazonian Leadership Pact: Rejecting La Republique’s National Day Charade

Ambazonian Flag

The Consultative Commission has issued the Ambazonian Leadership Pact’s ban on this years edition of the La Republique du Cameroun charades on Ambazonian territory.

La Republique du Cameroun, the “former” French colony which “gained independence” on January the 1st 1960 has a habit of marking their national day on May the 20th in typically Camerounese behaviour, which ignores the day they purportedly gained independence and instead highlight’s the day they botched their assimilation attempt on the then West Cameroon.

For recall, West Cameroon was the equal-status state to East Cameroon in the Federal Republic of Cameroon which should have been created after the 1961 plebiscite, which saw British Southern Cameroons vote to “gain independence by joining La Republique du Cameroun”. As it happens, La Republique du Cameroun broke all her international engagements on the process.

First the Federation was not signed off so it never actually existed. Then, it was illegally “modified” in a “referendum” which could not have legally taken place, especially as it did not follow any modification of the “constitution” of the Federal Republic of Cameroon, which itself had not been passed by both of the equal-status federal states, and therefore …

As if these breaches of international law were not, enough, in 1984, La Republique du Cameroun decided to “improve national unity”, further by reverting to their name at independence. Fortunately for Southern Cameroons, then “West Cameroon” and, now, Ambazonia La Republique du Cameroun’s decision to revert to their 1960 name, by the provisions of the Africa Union’s Charter also shrank La Republique’s borders to their state in 1960, thereby releasing Southern Cameroons from any engagements flowing from the 1961 plebiscite and any “understandings” expected from same.

These ideas have been tested variously in court in Banjul and in Bamenda, in particular where the ruling in Ambazonia vs Cameroun, HCB 28/92 was issued in favour of Ambazonia. Elsewhere in Banjul, La Republique du Cameroun’s argument that “Southern Cameroons” was not a people was dismissed by the African Court, who accepted the grievances of the complainant Southern Cameroonians, urging La Republique du Cameroun to address the “legitimate” grievances.

La Republique du Cameroun’s perennial “solution” was to cultivate a class of “elites” from among the people of Ambazonian origin, whose role is to benefit from privileges under the patronage of La Republique du Cameroun’s ruling “elite” – ironically called “les gouvernants” in their common parlance! The Ambazonian-origin “elites” are somehow supposed to benefit from those privileges and patronage on behalf of the rest of the people!

Every year La Republique du Cameroun stages marches to prove the “unity” that they have spent so much time undermining. They will do it again this year and will try to persuade their citizen with tinned fish and bread, to come out and make-believe. As outlined in previous paragraphs, La Republique du Cameroun does not include Ambazonia and Ambazonians have asserted their independence, which they are protecting through self-defense in the face of continued intimidation and “illegal and forceful occupation” by La Republique du Cameroun militias and military. Any Ambazonian who succumbs to bread and fish inducements by either the “eiltes” or directly from La Republique du Cameroun functionaries, does so at their own risk and could be caught in the cross fire of Ambazonian self-defense forces as they resist the La Republique occupation forces.

Ambazonian citizens are urged to continue to show their independence and enjoy their dignity rather than be seen with fish and bread from their oppressors. In Ambazonia’s future all our citizens will be metaphorically taught to fish rather than given fish. Our children shall shine like the stars above and be able to go out into the wider world and fish on an equal footing to all other skilled peoples of the planet.

Justice Denied: The Flaws in AKA’s Military Trial

AKA

The following is a a verbatim quote from the Lead Counsel to Abdul Karim Ali, who [AKA] was recently sentence to life by a military tribunal in La République du Cameroun, in absentia. Barrister Fru outlines some of the procedural short-comings:

The case against Abdul Karim Ali – AKA, like the thousand others against the APOCs, is procedurally and substantively flawed.

Procedurally AKA was abducted and kidnapped. He was not arrested pursuant to the procedures of the Criminal Procedure Code in cameroun. There was no arrest warrant or probable cause for his arrest. He was never caught flagrant delicto. He was held under inhumane conditions, in communicado, for several days – devoid of counsel and family.

AKA was charged under a terrorism law of 2014 that had been chastised by international jurists, including the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, as overbroad and a dragnet against fundamental freedoms and liberties.

AKA was charged with secession with no proof of any document proving:
1) that there is a union treaty/agreement/contract or document between the Trust Territory of British Southern Caneroons and La République du Cameroun; and
2) that AKA signed or was an accomplice in signing any document abrogating or violating the supposed Union Treaty or Agreement.

If anything AKA is being persecuted for his thoughts, political opinions, nationality and membership in a particular social group of citizens of the Former British Trust Territory of Southern Cameroons advocating for the sacrosanct right of self determination. Proof of this is ocular in the confrontations that arose during AKA’s numerous interrogations, almost exclusively without Counsel, in which AKA’s conversations with accredited Diplomats and Human Rights Advocates were targets – if these conversations were criminal as insinuated, how come these named Diplomats were not subpoenaed for direct testimony and open to cross examination, at AKA’s in absentia trial?

AKA was tried and condemned in absentia, as a civilian, in a military tribunal against all international instruments forbidding the trial of regular civilians in military tribunals.

AKA, in a letter to the President of the Military Tribunal, in Yaoundé, dated May 24, 2024, refused to surrender himself to the military tribunal, as a subset of the jurisdiction of La République du Cameroun, over his Southern Caneroons nationality and citizenship. His legal thrust argument is that since there is no Union Treaty or Agreement between La République du Cameroun and Southern Caneroons and since the physical boundaries of La République du Cameroun were Frozen at midnight on December 31, 1959, pursuant to the Addis Declaration of 1964 establishing the boundaries of African States, La République du Cameroun’s presence in Southern Caneroons is annexationist and illegal.

Pursuant even to the nationality laws of La République du Cameroun, once AKA raised the issue of his nationality, the military tribunal was supposed, even by its own motion, to decline jurisdiction, and refer the matter to the locality of AKA’s claimed birth place. This was was not done.

This is a miscarriage and travesty of justice. As his Counsel, we must decry it in the loudest terms.

We have appealed the decision and it is our hope that AKA’s legal foundations will set the grounds not only to redress this manifest injustice but open the door to the necessary political actions that need to occur for a just and sustainable resolution to the war that is at the basis of AKA’s prosecution and persecution.

Understanding the Ambazonian Independence Pact of 2025

Ambazonian Flag

The Leaders Summit

It is no longer news that Ambazonian Leaders have met and signed the Indepdence Pact of Easter 2025.

In this post, Ambazonia News attempts to fill in the gaps and answer some questions.

As usual, we welcome more insights from more informed sources.

Origins

The Consultative Commission is the old Coordination Team which come to life immediately in the mele of initiatives for conferences post the [predictable] collapse of the Canadian Pre-Talks. The collapse was when La République du Cameroun publicly berated Global Affairs Canada, in effect calling, its boss and Canada’s foreign Minister equivalent … names. La République du Cameroun’s actions were entirely predictable because they have no negotiating position, even if they had “anyone at home” and, secondly, because one of their strategies is to out-wait the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle. The have done this through many schemes designed mainly to time-waste, playing for time in the hope that the momentum of the Ambazonian Liberation would diminish. That is why their response to Melanie Joly, for she was the GAC boss who first disclosed holding of the Pre-talks was utterly predictable.

Before that they had ridiculed the Swiss Process, of infamous memory, similarly, including through Justice Minister Momo’s ludicrous attempt to paint the diplomatic bungling as the clever work of Mr Biya to thwart the international community’s pressure to resolve the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle. That particular bungle, if anything, served to show that the international community was not only interested, contrary to popular perception, but involved in attempts to solve it. It is for another post to address the appropriateness and suitability of the involvement.

Other delaying tactics include the GDN, and its baby, Special Status. GDN was neither a dialogue nor great, being more of a monologue of hand-picked RDPC stooges who, just to be certain, were not allowed to use the word “federation”, which in turn, by then, was no longer a popular concept among Ambazonian Circles!

Maybe the last overt delaying tactic was the infamous reconstruction plan which turned out to be, like most La République du Cameroun projects, another embezzlement machine.

The Coordination Team, therefore was the Ambazonian response designed to consult Ambazonians, establish their preferences and aspirations in order to inform how the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle should be steered thereafter.

The report of the consultation is published and available to download from this link.

The Pact

  1. It is the outcome of the consultations that our Coordination Team carried out with our people, after several abortive attempts to move towards a negotiated settlement, which have resoundingly come out in favour of external self-determination – Independence.
  2. The Agreement shows the maturity in the Liberation Struggle after reflecting on many natural learning points and the appeals from the people
  3. It is a pact to collaborate to act in a more coherent and cohesive manner to expedite Ambazonian Independence and Freedom. By collaborating, Ambazonian Leaders will demonstrate to the citizens, La République du Cameroun and the international community that they are committed and intent on staying the course and taking the Liberation Struggle over the victory line. The necessary impulses will be applied to nudge LRC towards the realization that Ambazonian minds are made up, resolve solid and their faith strong and driving them to Freedom.

How it came about

After eight years of improvising the best they could in a struggle for which they were not prepared, which they couldn’t even claim to have been ill-prepared for, it was, still is, natural that they would stumble. They now understand that they have to get up each time they stumble and respond to the cries of our people to stand up collectively to the oppression and end the [illegal] occupation. They must hold their nerve and be mindful that La République du Cameroun’s ways of dealing with the Ambazonian Liberation Struggle include propaganda, some of which tries the deception that they are failing. Instead experience teaches us that Ambazonia is winning as even the La République du Cameroun’s worst excesses of terror and intimidation have come and done: village burnings, massacres, Moja…, “elites” have all proved failures and instead served to demonstrate how incompatible La Republique du Cameroun is to Ambazonia.

While [then] Southern Cameroons had a multitude of democratically elected Prime Minsters and peaceful transitions in less that ten years, La Republque du Cameroun is stuck on two President’s , non of whom have ever been democratically elected, for over six decades!

While Southern Cameroons ran an efficient public service providing utilities and maintaining infrastructure for social progress, La Republique du Cameroons, after six decades continues to regress and shows no embarrassment, rather pride, in being so backwards that they have to evacuate their ailing “leadership” overseas for simple health care.

Why it came about.

It is necessary for our people to access the same opportunities that all other people do. We need to end the skewed and corrupt system which has reduced our people to abject poverty as second class citizens in a chronically corrupt and incompetent regime where they literally have zero opportunities for social growth.

Our Ambazonian children are very talented and we owe it to them and humanity to harness those skills and talent for humanity’s collective future on an equal footing.

Ambazonia must emerge from the dark shadow of La République du Cameroun and realise her destiny of a bright and prosperous future in the community of nations.

We will work diligently and with conviction, knowing that we are linking arms to regain and possess our country. We will keep improving our ways and getting straight back up every time if we stumble. We are maturing into a nation relying on the resilience which has seen us to this stage even in the face of a clear perceived imbalance of power

Ambazonian Liberation is a righteous course. The Most High God is the Watchman of our Nation
